A Word From The Chairman

Thank you for visiting our website.

Our club provides football for nearly 200 boys and girls in Shankill and the surrounding area.
Our Panters caters for 5 and 6 year olds providing one hour training on a saturday morning. Under the supervision of Brendan Yeates and his coaches our Panters learn the basic skills of football in a fun environment,

We have teams from age 7 to 17 in the DDSL and South Dublin League. Each team has training at least once per week with league matches on Sundays. Our older teams regularly travel abroad to matches in England and even Germany. And the younger teams have the occasional party with the particular highlight the Awards Cermony in St. Anne's School each year. Here we celebrate the successes of the season and each player from age 5 to 10 receives a medal to remember their season. The highlight of the cermonies is the Player of the Year and my favourite the Most Improved Player from each team.

At our club we cater for players regardless of gender and ability. We are always glad of new players who should ring me at 0863880588 or Club secretary Tim Cullinane 0872181086 for the present. We will soon be appointing a Parent Liaison Officer to smooth the entry of fresh talent into the club. Our child protection officer is Tommy Cummins and can be contacted at 087 9080313.

We are particularly keen to get more girls playing at all levels within the club and we are initiating girls training sessions and friendly matches to get them up to speed on the demands of competitive games. We are looking at the possibility of putting out teams in the girls only leagues if the demand is there.

The club and the area really require an indoor training pitch which could be shared by schools and other sports clubs. Even though we are in the middle of a recession we still feel it's possible to progress our own plans for this badly needed facility.

Running the club takes a lot of work (and money) - a sense of humour doesn't go astray either. Myself and the committee are very grateful for the support of managers, parents and local businesses over the past year. But, like Oliver Twist, we are brave enough to ask for ''more'' especially with all the new initiatives that the club is involved in.

We will soon be adding a "Help Wanted" section of this website for specific ways you can contribute.
Over the coming year we will need people with Marketing, Accounting, Legal, IT, Administrative, Fund Raising, Organisation, Administrative, Coaching, Tea and Coffee Making and other Catering skills. But don't run away! These requests will be broken into bite size chunks of a couple of hours commitment. Even the busiest of us can surely give a couple of hours a year for the club. Some sad souls have even been known to enjoy themselves in the process. While much of our workload is shared by parents you don't have to have a child in a team to help out. We are also looking for people working part time, retired people, past players and anyone with an interest in the welfare of kids, really.

Kind Regards,

Stephan Spain.
