The trip to Germany 2011 was an excellent event. Everybody arrived on time at the Shankill Shopping Centre and we were transported to Dublin Airport by bus (which was kindly sponsored by Stena Line) and arrived at Terminal 2 at 11.00 am. After checking in everybody had a bite to eat before Departing to Hamburg at 13.10. The flight arrived in Hamburg on time at 16.10 local time and we were then taken to Krusenbusher by coach. The coach journey was slightly delayed as traffic out of Hamburg was very heavy.
On Arrival at the Clubhouse in Krusenbuscher we were greeted by Anke and the Committee and Parents of their under 10 Teams. Of course the teams started playing football as soon as they arrived and the parents of our teams were treated to refreshments.
Both of our teams stayed in the Clubhouse with six adults also staying, the rest of the Parents stayed in a local hotel only 20 minutes from the clubouse.
The Krusenbusher committee were Absolutely fantastic and treated us very well organising all our meals, looking after us and the players and ensuring that our stay was very comfortable.
On Saturday morning after breakfast the Parents of the Krusenbucher teams took the players and some of the parents to an adventure park and we spent 4 hours climbing trees and taking on obstacles up to 40 feet off the ground (just look at the pictures below) both Players and Parents had a great day at the park after which we were brought to the local Mc Donalds and again we were fed by our hosts. Back at the clubhouse we were joined by the parents that didnt go to the park and were given the day to themselves to enjoy the local attractions. Later in the evening Anke and her team fed us all again.
Sunday Morning and the highlight of the trip it was tournament day. Before the tournament Krusenbuschers senior team played a league game and came out 3-1 winners. At 13.30 the teams started to Arrive for the tournment which consisted of the 2 Shankill teams, 2 Krusenbusher teams and 3 local teams, the games were 13 minutes long and their was no half time. Our players also had to play the offside rule for the first time which they coped really well with. Both of the Shankill teams started the tournament really well with both teams winning their first 2 games. The 3rd game seen both Shankill teams play each other and the teams were only seperated a wonder strike to give the Under 10B team the win but it was a hard fought win and Lydia almost got an equaliser when after some great work her shot hit the post and almost rolled into the net. The Under 10B team then drew 1 lost one and won their last game to finish second. The Under 10B1 also won 1 drew 1 and lost 1 of their last 3 games to seal 4th place.
After the tournament was over there was a bbq laid on for us and everybody was well fed again. Overall it was a very successfull trip and the Krusenbusher Committee and Parents couldn't have done anymore for us we were really looked after so well and look forward to their teams coming to Shanganagh Park next year when we will have the pleasure of their company again. The Parents and Players would like to send our heart felt thanks to everybody in Krusenbuscher who couldnt have done any more for us. Thank you ANKE, JOHN, SABENA and all your Team.
Finally the Krusenbuscher Parents & Committee commended us on how well our players behaved themselves and how polite they all were over the weekend.
