The under ten teams were on tour in Krusenbuscher, which is a village in the suburb of Oldenburg, near Bremen in Germany. The Two teams played in an international tournament against older opposition and it must be said they did the club and Ireland proud in both their playing skills and attitude. Indeed the referees let it be known to us that Luke Moore was one of the players of the competition and Paul Prenter scored one of the goals of the tournament. The people of Germany could not do enough for us and we were treated like Kings for the 4 days of the tour. They were absolutely brilliant, preparing all our meals and providing entertainment for us for the whole weekend.
The highlight of the trip was when the two teams were given the honour of being the mascots for the professional league derby match between the two local teams VfB Oldenburg against SV Wilhelmshaven ll. In front of a crowd of 4000 fans they were cheered onto the pitch. Afterwards they were given VIP treatment in the player’s room. Everyone enjoyed the trip and we are looking forward to Krusenbuscher visit to us next year.
